Spring 2012: Colors and Patterns in Textiles

© RenĂ© Habermacher, 2012

With the Premiere Vision in Paris, a textiles and trends show now moving towards New York next summer, the season for spring is on our Agenda. Here is where the fabric buyers wander the aisles of this vast visual "supermarche" to discover their inspirations for next year.  Also, 10 new designers were showcased that we'll feature here coming up.  Here's one pictured.  A variety of unique textiles and also an "eco" section was set up to begin the shift towards best practices in textiles.

Some trends range from open florals, in high tech generated designs, watercolors, embellished surfaces and prints with open white backgrounds and colorations.   Modernist prints with a decidedly dreamy 'mid-summer's night dream' sort of feel had one element.  Our viewing of the spring collections also shows alternative fabrics like shiny vinyls, and patent leathers, combined with cotton t-shirts and khakis.  We love that the idea of a spring fabric has taken on a new twist.

Hollywood Goes Vintage Glam: Red Carpet Stars

HAYARI COUTURE - Paris France

Vintage Glamour Returns to the Red Carpet. Hayari Couture...debuts on the Carpet 2012 in a beautiful dress complete with tulle skirt, embroidered and jewel encrusted lace bodice. The gown "La Nuit de Paris"  came directly from Paris Atelier of HAYARI Couture where evening glamour, and elegance is perfect for the Red Carpet Season in Hollywood.  Nabil Hayari, designer of both luxury bridal wear and evening glamour, created the gown with Pikke Allen, Hollywood stylist handling the technical aspects, to make the gown Meghan's dream come true.

Here, the gown "Nuit de Paris" on its way to the Red Carpet Academy Awards events is perfect for the California weather, and casual elegance of the ceremony. A blast of Sunlight, indicative of the beautiful warm day in February, shows off the layers of silk tulle panels that made up the skirt. Even though Angela Jolie's leg, took over the moment on stage, when Nat Faxon, who won for Best Adapted Screenplay, Meghan's moment in the sun came when she stood up for her husband, and made her gown a worldwide "tv view" on U-tube for a million people.  We know we were thrilled, as was the Paris Atelier...
Bravo to All!    To see more beautiful gowns and celebrity photos, please go to http://hayari-couture.com.

Fashion Creatures Great and Small: Welcome to our World

Welcome to the Planet of Spring, 2012 with Alexender McQueen releasing these photos taken on the fashion Planet where beautiful creatures float about seemingly suspended in an ethereal space.  1960s inspired girls prepare us for a collection lift-off that can only mean...winter is over and the flower children have begun to arrive.

We can't wait to see what the clothes will look like...the textures are already an interesting counterpoint to the Fall season. Now, if we can just find a pair of shoes to match that bubble skirt...hmmm...flats, platforms, wedges, boots...glass slippers?

We'll try shoes with wings on...

When Fashion is Sitting Down: Thierry Yves Barbier

Fashion takes a seat in the Designs of Thierry Barbier

Sitting pretty, not on your life. These furnishings are vibrant, brave and take charge of your interior design. We're huge fans  of Thierry Yves Barbier, Furniture Designer. He's taken on French Furnishings with a vengeance, and put the Zing back into the French Living room. No, this is not your mother's favorite French, it's tradition, on its head.  Then, there's the fabrics; his choice of fabrics works inside the framework that is often traditional, such as when he adds a surface of decoration that reinvents furniture as precious object.  They are at once arresting, fashionable, and we feel we should really, order shoes and a dress to go with them...and pop open the champagne...they're something to celebrate!

We're fans, and we know you will be too!

GOLDEN GLOBES DEBUT: The Passion for Fragrance at HAYARI Couture, Paris

The Fashion for Fragrance:  Luxury has a name...its "Only for Her"

Only for Her”, the new fragrance by HAYARI Couture, of Paris is made in Grasse, France in hand-numbered bottles, each one of a kind.  The fragrance ingredients feature the white peony, queen of the oriental flowers combined with the elegance of the magnolia. This duet is blended with notes of jasmine, reminiscent of Mr. Hayari’s childhood garden.  Some fruity notes of grapefruit and freesia bring to perfection the floral bouquet with hints of woody and powerful scents of sandalwood and patchouli to add a touch of mystery. The strength of the fragrance is “eau de Parfum” which is a unique formulation that allows you to wear it for day or night.  The bottle is an elegant presentation of a 12 sided flacon topped with a crystal stopper and 14K gold details.  All the Celebs lined up to see this fragrance and experience the chic and luxurious bottle, hand numbered and filled individually which makes it a true boutique luxury fragrance. Pictured here on the beach...it promises to be a beautiful fragrance already worn on the red carpet...news is it was present at the Golden Globes 2012...but we're not telling on whom...

Hello, Red Carpet season!  Let the games begin!

Reese is sizzling on the carpet here, very blonde, beachy, and Los Angeles but let's review:  Why are the girls trying to match and compete with the carpet? Wouldn't a designer who is smart (Zac Posen) advise that on camera, a red dress just blends in with the carpet, and, well, takes over the wearer?

While the dress is nice, the purpose of a red carpet dress is to shine ON the carpet, not WITH the carpet. Sadly, the cut is beautiful, fabric beautiful, but the carpet is a platform and backdrop, designed to showcase what is glamorous and beautiful about Hollywood.

Its a backdrop, girls, not the "center attraction".  Oddly, it seems as if the Scarlet O'Hara "curtain dress" has appeared again here, only this time, its the carpet, that's become the dress, not the drapes from that famous window.

New Color for 2012: Tangerine

Oh Joy, Oh Rapture:  Tangerine is the new color for 2012 according to PANTONE.

We have it on good authority that the fashion industry was well ahead of this somewhat conservative body of color experts.  Some of us even have friends who have always been committed to this color (you know who you are). Now that we've cleared that up, let's discuss what this color really means to the rest of us who only just arrived.   A few tangerine facts:  Steve Jobs put out a Tangerine computer back in the 1990s.  Where was Pantone then?  Oh, and Hermes, that storied brand that is very French and has been selling this color for decades;  already on board. Have you seen a Hermes bag in this lovely shade of orange fetching upwards of 35,000 dollars in price on special order?  Seems like the color is already a classic, but finally has reached the mainstream.  That's really the story here.  When a color like tangerine, reaches the minds of the regular joe, or you begin to see it at Walmart, then you know its time to move on.

For the moment, we'll enjoy its debut and be prepared for next year when they announce that the color is LIME GREEN.  We can't wait.
